NEW KNORR SOUP2GO CONCEPT

KNORR SERVES UP SPEEDY SOUP2GO

Unilever Foodsolutions [1] and Huhtamaki have together launched a new KNORR Soup2Go concept – the tasty solution for time-poor consumers wanting a light meal or snack option they can grab on the go.

Laurence Smith, category marketing director, Unilever Foodsolutions comments: “Combining the choice of delicious KNORR Soups with the convenience of the Huhtamaki manufactured KNORR Soup2Go cup, allows customers to take their favourite soup away with them wherever they are. KNORR Soup2Go is a branded soup cup with front of house merchandising support that enables caterers to maximise on consumer trends towards light meal and snacking solutions to eat on the go.”

Mounting pressure on staff in the workplace has driven the average British lunch break down to just 28 minutes, with one in five workers either never taking a break for lunch or eating at their desk [2]. This presents a new eating occasion for caterers to tap into. Whilst consumers want a quick and tasty meal or snack they can grab on the go, it is also apparent that they are becoming more aware of health issues, with seven out of ten workers saying they are more concerned about healthy eating than they were two years ago [2].

Laurence Smith continues: “With the current demand for healthier options driving decline in traditional snacks, there has been a significant growth in sales of perceived healthier snack and light meal options such as soup [3]. Soup is the ideal choice for health conscious consumers on the move as it can be eaten at any time of the day and is more nutritionally balanced than many other convenience food options.”

KNORR Soup2Go can also help operators generate revenue, as soup is more profitable and easier to produce than sandwiches and other snacking products, with soup now stealing share from sandwiches as a light meal option [4]. Benefiting from KNORR Soup2Go branded POS kits and counter top merchandise, operators can help drive sales of soup to consumers who don’t have the time to sit down and eat on site. Operators can also increase consumers basket-spend by offering KNORR Soup2Go as part of a meal deal. By adding extras such as bread rolls and FLORA portions at little extra cost, operators can generate good levels of incremental revenue.

The KNORR Soup ranges that accompany the KNORR Soup2Go concept have been reformulated over the past year to deliver great quality and taste while hitting Government health guidelines [6]. All varieties of soup from the extensive KNORR range can be used with the KNORR Soup2Go serving concept [5]. Operators who purchase five cases of KNORR ready to use 100% Soup and one case of KNORR Soup2Go cups will automatically receive a free KNORR Soup2Go POS Kit [7] and merchandising stand. Alternatively, operators can buy three cases of KNORR Dry soup (Standard, Classic or Classic Chunky) and one case of KNORR Soup2Go cups to receive a KNORR Soup2Go POS Kit.
