"With the FLORA London Marathon now only a month away, I’ve joined forces with the foodservice team at FLORA to share my training and healthy eating tips in preparation for the big day on Sunday 13th April. As most of you know, I’m no stranger to marathon running so I gladly took on the challenge to head up the Flora ‘Chefs on the Run’ team. My fastest time of 3 hours 13 minutes was in London a few years ago and now I am happy if I get under 3 hours 30 minutes. This year I’m running for Victa, Visually Impaired Children Taking Action, which provides support for families with visually impaired children. My training preparation is well underway, as I’m sure is the case for anyone that is running the marathon this year. January was when the serious training kicked in and I started to increase my runs. At the beginning of this month they were up to two hours long and I started to include speed training, hills and a strange thing called fartlek training. I’ll let you know what fartlek training is next week and I’ll give you an update on what stage your training should be at." |
